The Bombay Velvet Club is an hour talk show hosted by Karan Johar interviewing (and ‘chitchatting’) with the colleagues of Bombay Velvet: Anushka Sharma, Ranbir Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap. They share their experiences while shooting the film and many other inside trivia regarding the sixty’s style movie Bombay Velvet. The show is what has been as the next level promotion method as the show is not telecast on television but rather on mobile phones. The show produced by Hotstar.
The show starts with talking about the chemistry that Ranbir and Anushka had in the film and how they got their roles and how they are feeling about the movie as a whole. Karan Johar, who is playing the antagonist in the film, side by side, chips in many important details while probing with direct questions. The show then drifts to the next part where they bring in the director of the movie, Anurag Kashyap, and talk about his enigmatic presence during the shoot and how people around him worked like a cult. Then comes the rapid-fire round where Karan Johar asks quickly questions regarding their views on other actors, details regarding their personal life and much related to the movie. At one point they are asked to give points to others skills like- rank how good is Ranbir as a kisser, as a co-actor to Anushka, and the same questions are turned towards her, and overall the round ends up very comical. Then they take on social media and what are its advantages and disadvantages and the troubles they face because of it, especially for Karan Johar and how difficult it is to get through the day right from the morning itself. Finally, we move onto the buzzer round where whoever answers the maximum questions wins and takes away some fancy awards. That is how the whole show is brought about. The Hotstar released some additional clips as extras, along with it, regarding the various experiences cast had on the set. The movie cast surely seems to be very excited about the movie in the show. At the end of the show, people will enjoy the feel of living a sixty’s life, and surely the movie is going to give just as same and even better. The show turned out to be a decent medium for film promotion, receiving huge public support in the process.
