Dussehra symbolizes the victory of truth on false. Today, that is to be celebrated on Friday (October 19). However, on some occasions Thursday (October 18th) Ravana combustion was also done. Ravan was burnt on Thursday in Ahmedabad in Gujarat.

Ravana combustion in different places across the country and the traditions of everywhere are quite different. Arms are also worshiped on this day. Shami tree is also worshiped on this day. Many people believe that on this day it is auspicious to buy vehicles, electronics items, gold ornaments, new clothes etc. On the day of Dussehra, Nilkanth is considered to be auspicious for Lord’s visit.
