Use Black Friday to Protest “Inhuman” Working Conditions by Amazon workers

Amazon warehouse workers are planning to voice their anger at working conditions in coordinated protests across Europe on Black Friday. Britain-based trade union GMB organized the continent-wide protest under the protest slogan, “We are not robots.”

The protests struck Amazon across the continent, including in Italy, Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom. In Britain, union officials representing Amazon workers predicted that hundreds would appear at protests throughout the day in five locations.

The union tweeted Friday, “This BlackFriday Amazon workers worldwide have come together with one message for billionaire Jeff Bezos.  We are not robots, treat us with dignity and respect,” along with a video of Amazon workers from different countries repeating the “we are not robots” slogan in various languages.

Amazon said, “All of our sites are safe places to work and reports to the contrary are simply wrong,” According to the U.K. Government’s Health and Safety Executive, Amazon has over 40% fewer injuries on average than other transportation and warehousing companies in the U.K.
