The Academy awards or the Oscars will be given this year on March 4th to the best in every category associated with filmmaking. Let’s look at the the best films which have come that may possibly win this prestigious award.

The Florida Project

It is a remarkable and unique movie in its portrayal of lifestyle in a sub-urban location of the famed place. Dafoe’s role as Bobby, a motel manager, is always the entre of attraction of such a piece of intense realism. His empathetic side is shown by his strong, fatherly caricature outside is worth taking a notice. The attention to detail inside the lobby, the verandah, the garden, etc. – it is quite a spectacle to watch such a film. The movie has a clear chance to be at the top this year.

Dunkirk

It is most awaited film of this year. The Christopher Nolan’s terrific film, showing intense World War II spectacle, was nothing sort of filmmaking masterpiece. Given the case that Oscar voters had certain themes as their favorites, like war films, docu-dramas, etc. and much of the film is befitting those. It is hands down one of the strongest contender.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing

The news has arrived that ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ has won the Golden Globes, which has been accurate pointers for Oscar winners, awards for Best Feature film. Hence, it is needless to say that they have come so far for the team in the race of the Oscars. We just have to wait and watch.

Darkest Hour

It is such cliché but true nonetheless that whoever does Winston Churchill wins a ton of awards. Leaving aside that, the remarkable thing about the film was Oldman’s transformation into Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour is otherworldly. He is not even recognizable in the getup. The film shows the British Prime Minister’s early days in office during World War II, which in itself a historically surreal experience. The things are looking incredible good for the film.

Lady Bird

It is a coming of age film where the girl is trying to find its place in society by experimenting with as many things. It is not so much the story but through the story the beauty of the place, Sacramento, California is shown. For its creativity, the movie has to be among the top five as a nominee, if not win.
