Are you one of those people who hates nights? who staunchly believes in the concept of ‘early to bed and early to rise’? who wakes up with the sun? who considers 12 am to actually be the middle of the night? Well, kudos to you cause there are so many in this world who find it difficult to follow your example. But, let me tell a few reasons why you might want to push back your sleeping time.
Leave Me Alone: Nights are the time when everything is quiet. It’s as if the world itself is setting down – the chatter dies down gradually, then a few sounds here and there and then everything is still. With the distractions out of the way, it’s as if the universe is aiding you to ponder. As Rumi has rightfully said, “The quieter you become the more you are able to hear. ” Have an essay to write but you’re mind’s drawing on to a blank? Well, get up in the middle of the night and ponder about it. You just might come up with the most creative ideas.
Endless Hours: Imagine you have a submission at midnight and by the time you realize, it’s already 10 pm. You would be in a mess, wouldn’t you? What if the submission were at 8 am? Wouldn’t it be a relief? If there stretches a night between you and your deadlines, there’s less pressure on your mind. Because you know that worst come worst, you would have to pull an all-nighter. But you’ll finish your work. You can always shorten your sleep to catch up on your piling submissions and tasks.
Of course, you will be absolutely drained by the time you get to sleep. But your mind will be at rest, knowing that you’ve got a headstart that no one has. Also, if you’re lucky you will get to see the night transform into morn. And, trust me, it’s a most wonderful feeling to watch the sun sparkle golden rays across the sky as you get ready to sleep.
