3. Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker Election: Opposition unity will be ‘Agni Pariksha’ versus Harivansh vs Hariprasad

The preparations for the elections to be held today for the post of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman have been made and this election is also very important from the political point of view. However, in view of the hope that NDA candidate Harivansh hopes to get more support from more than half the members on the basis of number force in the upper house, his position is seen as bigger than the opposition candidate BK Hariprasad. But the Congress-led opposition is also claiming its victory. While the NDA has fielded Janata Dal-United MP Harivansh in this election battle of Deputy Chairman, the opposition has fielded BK Prasad of Congress as a common candidate. The first news on the name of Harivansh was that the NDA could split, but the way NDA constituents are declaring their support, it has become clear that now the plight of the Harivansh is overwhelming. That’s because Shivsena, BJD and Akali parties have also stamped the name of Harivansh.

For the time being, there has been a glimpse of the opposition solidarity on different forums, this election is considered to be very important from that point of view. Some people believe that the election of Deputy Chairman today is not less than any test for opposition unity. The Vice President’s election is being seen as a semi-final for opposition unity. Because there is not a big difference of seats in NDA and UPA.
