After portraying the character of barbaric sultan Allauddin Khilji, Ranveer Singh is all set for his next venture titled ‘83’ based on cricket legend Kapil Dev. The movie is slated to release in August next year.
On Sunday, the actor instagrammed a new picture of himself revealing the date of the biopic, which is August 30, 2019. The post reads, “Mark your calendar!83 will be releasing on August 30th, 2019.” The movie starring Ranveer Singh and directed by the Ek Tha Tiger director Kabir Khan, deals with the story of Team India leading up to the historic day when they picked up the World Cup trophy at England’s Lords Stadium on June 25, 1983. Kapil Dev was the captain of the team, at that time.
Recently, the actor also interacted with the members of the 1983 World Cup-winning team.
Kapil Dev along with then vice-captain Mohinder Amarnath, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Bishan Singh Bedi, Sandeep Patil, Dilip Vengsarkar, Yashpal Sharma and Madan Lal were in attendance at the event held in Mumbai.

Singh recently featured in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Padmaavat” which was released on January 25, has earned the actor commercial and critical acclaim for his portrayal of Delhi Sultan Alauddin Khilji. The movie has minted Rs 192.5 crore till February 2 and is expected to cross the Rs 200-crore mark. The film released after much difficulty over protests by fringe group Karni Sena and has completed over two weeks at the box office.
However, in a major relief, the Mumbai faction of Karni Sena on Friday announced that it is ending its protest of Padmaavat.
Ranveer will also star in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy with Alia Bhatt.
