It all started with the infamous producer, director, judge and of course the host of a reality chat show ‘Koffee with Karan, Karan Johar inviting another set of guests for a new episode to have a light-hearted conversation to entertain the viewers and make them more surreal about their favourite stars. All In all, the chat show possessing a good vibe, turned out to be taking a drastic turn when the alleged Kangana Ranaut came as an invitee on his show accompanied with the Nawab of our film industry ‘Nawab’ Saif Ali Khan to promote their upcoming film Rangoon.
Kangana had appeared on Koffee With Karan and called Karan Johar a ‘movie mafia’ and ‘a flag bearer of nepotism’. The director , stated that he felt that the actress did not understand the true meaning of nepotism and that if she had so much problem in the way Bollywood functions, she should just leave it. The director felt he had given her a platform on his show to express her opinion and if he wanted he could have edited it but he chose not to.
Now, Kangana, has blasted Karan stating that he was a paid host of a channel and how his team had pursued her for months to make an appearance on the show. “I can’t speak for Karan Johar’s understanding of nepotism. If he thinks that it is restricted to nephews, daughters and cousins, I have nothing to say. But, to say that he chose not to give me work is to mock an artiste. As importantly, his memory appears to be poor because we worked together in a movie (Ungli), which was produced by him. And quickly realised our sensibilities did not match. I’m also at a loss to understand how he gave me a platform by inviting me to be on his show,” statement which was given by Kangana.
The actress questioned Karan on his statement about she using the ‘victim card’. “Why is Karan Johar trying to shame a woman for being a woman? What is this about the ‘woman card’ and the ‘victim card’? This kind of talk is demeaning to all women, particularly the vulnerable because they are the ones who really need to use them.
By coming on to the argument, as not one of the contenders, but as one of the spectators, who is the actual victim over here and who is trying to gather all the limelight on themselves cannot be clear enough until and unless we know both the sides of the coin perfectly. It’s not the first time and definitely not the last time a spat and a controversy seeking so much attention has happened in the film industry and we as the mere spectators can only take a bucket of popcorn in our hand and enjoy the show just like another juicy gossip. So enjoy :).
