How many of you know the expansion of “.jpg” or “.pdf”?? OK ! Now an easy one. How many of you have atleast seen these extensions? Well I’m sure everybody must have seen the extensions but surely overlooked them.It happens most of the time that we obey “the law of abstraction” I.e. learning only the stuff that is quite essential in getting marks but not learning those details which would make us more knowledgeable.Right? I hope I’m wrong.
Yeah who cares about the extensions unless I’m able to open and access those damn files?Right? Nope! It is quite essential that we learn things that most of us skip so that we have an edge over others.
So today we are gonna learn some really famous but most unfamiliar expansions of extensions.
1.”.pdf“–Short for Portable Document File , this format was invented by Adobe which later turned into an open standard maintained by International Organization for Standardization (ISO).Apart from the boring text , pdfs can also contain links,buttons, videos,audios,pictures etc.
2.”.JGPEG“–Short for Joint Photographic Experts Group,this format is generally used for images and particularly those images which are created by digital photography.JPEG supports a maximum image size of 65,535×65,535 pixels I.e. around 4 gigapixels.
3.”.GIF“–Short for Graphics Interchange Format,this format was developed by US-based software writer Steve Wilhite . This format not only allows static but also animated images.The format supports up to 8 bits per pixel for each image .Next time you send a gif file remember it’s expansion!
4.”.MPEG“–Moving Picture Experts Group, this format was developed by the group which it is named after .This format allows transmission of compressed videos and audios without which we cannot imagine our lives.
5.”.APK“–And finally something you have all been waiting for…’.apk ‘ stands for Application Format Package. This format is used by the Android (and it’s later versions) for distribution and installation of mobile apps.
