The other side of Leadership is Followership. The concept of Followership was developed in 1988 by Robert E. Kelley. The proactive style is likely most helpful as it increases in value by the pioneer when there is adequate time to discuss a specific strategy.

Whenever given a task to perform the proactive style often initiate to bring in changes if the frontier has much better ideas or solutions for a particular scenario. This is much of a mental exercise.

Consideration of strength as working together cooperatively serves the group at its best.

Followers do not want pioneers to decide their work or fate, they want to be treated as partners. Every member of our group is good at adjusting their behaviour that fits towards the situation faced.

In spite of knowing to be a good leader, one needs to first be a good follower. Effective leaders face problems and lead a discussion into conflict when there is a call for an urgent leadership decision, we often do not agree with the leader decision if one has a better alternative for it. In such, a case passive followership would probably be a better option.

Followers can be turned into the effective leader if he/she start carrying out their assignments with enthusiasm, do not depend upon the leader to think on their behalf always, take initiative to learn new things and try to develop a sense of responsibility within the self.

Moving ahead, there is a pragmatic follower too who knows the amount of work to be done just to prove its existence in the group for its own survival and does not think about the whole performance.

A pragmatic follower can be drawn through the effective followers’ side by showing a positive side in desperate times rather than being on the negative side.

Alienated follower does not approach for improvement either participate in developing fruitful solutions this is so, as he/she thinks that people are taking them for granted. This particular thought lowers down their engagement level.

This type of follower can be turned into an effective leader if he/she starts connecting their self-interest with the interest of others. These people can be motivated by achievement.

We cannot have just commendable devotees in an association. New individuals can be passive or conformist, as we all try to limit hazard until the point that we are agreeable and progressively sure of our condition. We require some down to business survivors so when the way of life begins to weaken, we see our canaries pulling without end and can run repairs before a breakdown.

Yet, a large portion of our benefit originates from commendable supporters.
