Demi Lovato is a popualr singer, songwriter and actress. The star has faced a lot of struggles in her personal life over the years. She has around 20 tatoos. The following five are the most interesting and inspirational.
The most popular of them is the one on her wrists saying the words “Stay Strong”. Demi added these tattoos in March 2011 shortly after she spent nearly three months in rehab treating her issues with cutting and bulimia, with which she had struggled for years.
On the same arm she later added the word faith near her elbow. This is a matching tattoo with her friend Lauren Martin, whom she met in treatment at Timberline Knolls. She later added 12 birds surrounding to the word “faith” on her forearm. About the number of birds, she later realized a connection to the Alcoholics Anonymous 12-step recovery program, with each bird representing one of the steps towards her freedom from substance abuse.
The singer got her first tattoo when she was sixteen. She inked the words “You make me beautiful” on her ribcage from the Bethany Dillon song “Beautiful.” The tattoo has religious meaning to Demi, reminding her that she can find confidence in knowing that God has made her perfect. She later added feathers to the tattoo. Years later, she also added a dream catcher to the tattoo.
In September 2015, Demi Lovato got a tattoo on the inside of her left foot. It says “Buddy was here” in memory of her dog Buddy who was killed by a coyote in her own backyard. The font was specifically chosen to look like a child’s handwriting and the letter “h” is written backwards.
Demi Lovato also got this tattoo of Africa on the inside of her right elbow to commemorate a volunteer trip that she went on to Kenya for her 21st birthday.
Demi Lovato got a tattoo on her back on May 14, 2013 — the release day for her fourth album Demi. The tattoo says “now I’m a warrior”, which are the lyrics from the album’s closing track “Warrior.” The song is about how the struggles she has faced in her life has made her a stronger person.
