A 50-year-old man was found dead in the servants’ quarters of Rashtrapati Bhavan, police said on Friday.
The body was found on Thursday when the neighbors noticed a foul smell emanating from the servant quarters. Since the door was locked from inside, police were informed and they broke it open at night. The man has been identified as Trilok Chand. He was class IV employee and worked at the President’s Secretariat. The deceased recently started living in the quarters.
According to his colleagues, he has been unwell for a while now. They also mentioned that he was taking various medical treatments. It’s not yet clear how he died, but police believe heart attack to be the cause of death. The body has been sent for post-mortem and no foul play is being suspected.
But according to a preliminary investigation, the Deputy Commissioner of Police said, it looks like a natural death.
Police believe that the person mentioned above must have died 4-5 days back as his family was out of town and he was living alone.“We are trying to contact deceased’s family,” police said.
