Darul Uloom Deoband’s Fatwa – Women’s Nail Polishing Haraam in Islam

It is known that Darul Uloom Deoband is a special place for the Muslims. Darul Uloom Deoband says that he is working to maintain the originality of Islam in the world. The Muslims affected by this ideology is called Deobandi. The foundation stone of Darul Uloom Deoband was laid on 30 May 1866 by Haji Abid Hussain and Maulana Qasim Nanautvi.

Darul Uloom Deoband has issued a fatwa only against a woman because she had put nail polish on her nails. Fatwah says that it is against Islam to impose nail polish on nails and cutting nail for women. Mufti Ishar Gaura of Darul Uloom has said that in Islam women can use Hina(Mehandi)  on nails, nail polish is non-Islamic. Darul Uloom has already issued fatwas against many habits related to women.

On October 21 last year, Darul Uloom Deoband had issued a fatwa and said that uploading photos of Muslim men and women on social media are unfair. A man from Daroom Uloom, Deoband, had asked this question whether uploading photos of his (men) or women on Facebook, WhatsApp and Social Media is justified. In its response, it has said that it is not right for Muslim women and men to upload photographs of themselves or family on social media, because Islam does not allow it.

On October 7, Darul Uloom Deoband had issued a shocking fatwa to Muslim women. It is said in the fatwa of Darul Uloom Deoband that it is unfair to create hair cutting and eyebrows for Muslim women. Maulana Lutfurrahman Sadiq Kasami of the fatwa department of Darul Uloom Deoband said that this fatwa should have been released a long way. Actually, a man from Saharanpur had asked Darul Uloom Deoband whether Islam allows women to have haircut and eyebrows? Should I let my wife do this? Only after the question of this person, Daru Uloom released this fatwa.
