The movie ‘thugs of Hindostan’, starring two superstars of Bollywood- Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan was anticipated to create a blast at the box office during Diwali. However, after the release of the movie on November 8t, the fans have clearly been disappointed. Even though the movie grossed estimated 50 crores on the opening day, Thugs of Hindostan failed to bring the expected reaction in the audience. And it have also received unenthusiastic negative reviews from film critics.
5 Reasons For The Failure Of ‘THUGS OF HINDOSTAN’ are –
This movie looks like it is more fictional than real. Thugs of Hindostan could have been a spectacular delight if there had not been proper execution. The audience had great expectations about the movie. The makers of the movie had to pull out something extraordinary if the film had to be a success. Since it didn’t provide anything unusual, it missed the opportunity of having a grand success.
- Resemblance with another Movie
With the release of the trailer itself, many shots and portrayal of characters were similar to other English movies. From the characters to the action set pieces and production design, you can’t help but compare TOH to the Pirates of the Caribbean. Aamir Khan’s character Firangi Mallah seems to be an Indian version of Captain Jack Sparrow. It looked like a ‘desi’ version of ‘The Pirates of Carribean’.
Background of the Director
The director of the movie, Vijay Krishna Acharya, does not have much of critical success when it comes to his movies. Both of his previous movies- Tashan and Dhoom 3 had definitely got no critical acclaim.
The movie which was thought to be a visual treat was anything but that. The movie, though with a huge budget as of 300 Crore has failed to deliver good visual effects. It seems to be like an amateur video game sequence using third-rate CGI ( Computer Generated Imagery). This has even led to a number of trolls and memes on social media.
Wastage of Actor
Thugs of Hindostan had an amazing cast comprising of Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fathima Sana Shaikh. Unfortunately, the director has been unable to deliver the best out of these actors. Especially, Katrina, who had no significant role other than to flex some muscles and add bit glamour to the film.
